Soccer calendar

Hi guys,

I'm new here as I am new in my company and there I will have to use excel macro more and more.

If anyone of you could help it would be very appreciated.

This is what I need to do:

I'm organizing a soccer tournament and I'm trying to set up a macro to create the calendar totally randomly.
In the picture you can see what I would like to have at the end.

In column A, from A2 to A7 you can find the participant's name.

And below I would like to have the closest presentation possible. Meaning you have Day 1 and then 3 games, an empty line, Day 2 and then 3 games and so on.

The particularity is that I need to have each player playing vs each other once and only once (exactly like in the picture).

I tried several things but none worked. I hope there is someone who can help me.

how many days are we talking about and how many persons per day?
does the number of participants change (max min if so?)

is this a one off for the whole season?

ie you set up all day at the same time or are you going to have to take into account teams as they get knocked out?

Hi Tony,

I don't know yet how many days will be necessary. This depends on how many participants will plays. If we have 10 players, it will be 9 days, if we have 20 it will be 19 days and so on.
Regarding how many persons per day, each player need to play each day once.
Once the tournament will be finalized there won't be any change in the number of players (one off for the whole season).

My only variable now is the number of players, it will be around 10 I guess. But even if you help me to create the macro based on only 6 guys. I think I'll manage to update it for 10 players.

Hi,

Well im getting there but its very compicated,

the problem is we have so many variables to concider!

I get one part working and then another part wont be sutable

for example:

I got to to randomly select two people to play together but forgot that one person cant play two matched in one night so it all went wrong.

bare with me, this is exactly the type of chanllenge i like and I wont fail unless its imposible, how are you for time on this?

Thanks very much Tony for investing your time on this one. Don't rush yourself as the tournament will not start before September I guess. The participants still need to confirm they participation.

well its done! (god knows how i managed this, but lets just say i got a lot of help with each part from people on this site and combined it to bring the whole thing to gether!)
