I have a column of scores in col D. In column A, I rank the scores and there are no duplicates/ties for the first place (rank 1). When I sortcolumn A in ascending order, the ranks 1 and 2 both become ranks of 1. Again, the corresponding scores in col D arenot equivalent (1 is golf score of 55, 2 is golf score of 62).

Why cant I sort them correctly without changing ranks of some scores?

Author John Walkenbach was Mr Spreadsheet until his retirement in June 2019.
This is the formula that I am using for ranking in Column A:

=IFERROR(RANK(D2,D2:D151,1), "")

Column D is the scores for each person.
