Sort removing characters problem

Hi all

I'm finding an odd situation with sort.

If I copy and paste special text from a website the following happens:

'Sasa - pastes as it is but when I sort the cell shows Sasa but still shows 'Sasa in the formula bar.

+f...... adds an = sign in front of it which makes it a formula cell and not a text cell.

How do I get around this to keep the original text as it's pasted?
