Hi. I have an Excel sheet with many thousands of names. The names are in various capitalization formats:

1. Some names are all lower case
2. some all upper case
3. some with the first letters capitalize

Is there a way to sort these by the three formats? I don't want to change them. I just need to tag them by their format.

Thanks in advance. mike

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
Assuming that A2:A1000 contains the data, try...

B2, copied down:

=IF(EXACT(A2,UPPER(A2)),"Upper Case",IF(EXACT(A2,LOWER(A2)),"Lower Case",IF(EXACT(A2,PROPER(A2)),"Proper Case","Other")))
