Hi,

I am trying to sort by date, but I want to drop the year out of the format and just have the dd/mm without the yy. I know I can format the cells that way but when I sort it It still sorts it as if the year was a factor. ie
12-Mar
14-Jan
02-Mar
Like the year is there just not visible. As there anyway to just to a true sort without the year as a factor???

The only way I know is to create an extra column where you take the day and month and format as text

eg:
cell is 01/28/04
put formula in as follows:
=TEXT(MONTH(A1),"mm")&TEXT(DAY(A1),"dd")

Then sort on that new column

add a column as follows:

=text(a1,"DDMM")

& sort on that; alternatively, under the sort options, you can specify months as the first key sort order, which might give you what you want.
