Sorting on Mac vs PC

Hi

I just shifted from PC to Mac and noticed that the Mac sorts different from the PC. When I sort these four items (Emergency, NBD, NBD+1, NBD-X) on the Mac in Excel 2008 I get this result:

Emergency
NBD
NBD-X
NBD+1

When I do it on the PC in Excel 2007 I get this result

Emergency
NBD
NBD+1
NBD-X

May not look like a big thing, but I use the result as input for the VLOOKUP and if it's not in the right order I dont get the correct results.

Have anyone encountered this and have any workaround for it?

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.
Yeah, but with the combination of different OS and siffernt version of Excel, there are bound to be some oddities! I hope you weren't a big macro user either...

I don't think there should a difference in sorting between a Mac and PC. I'm using a Mac version of Excel (Excel:Mac v.X) and get the following...

Emergency
NBD
NBD+1
NBD-X

If you use...

Sort > Data

...and specify whether you have a header or not does it return the correct result? Also, by any chance, does 'NBD-X' on your worksheet have a space before the 'X'?
