I know that I must be overlooking something simple. I have never encountered a problem with sorting by date before.
I have a sheet with 17 columns and 30 some rows. Row 1 has column headers, column 1,2,3etc. I don't know why it is showing up this way. Row 2 is the row with column descriptions. Column 1 is in date format, rows 3 to the end. When I select row 3 to the end and sort oldest to newest row 3 is moved to row 35 and the dates are not in order.
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
Are there formulas linked to the cells in the data you're sorting?
If so, check to make sure the referencing cells have not moved and if so, reset the formulas.
To prevent this from happening you can value out the fields first.
If they're straight data and it's being mixed up, please post an example of the data that changes here using XL2BB.
