spaces before & or after text

is their a way of applying a conditioning format command to highlight the cell if their are
spaces before and or after the text contained within the cell?

Use a formula like

=LEN(A1)=LEN(TRIM(A1))

You can avoid having spaces around the test by using the trim function, as I'm guessing this is what could be the issue.

Eg =Trim(A1)

you can also remove leading and trailing spaces by using text to columns,fixed width delete any break lines click finish
