not sure how to ask this questions so that it makes sense to answer, but I'm going to try... I have created a sheet with mostly text because it's link to other sheets so I can't do it in word. The problem I'm having is that I'm merging cells where the text is supposed to go. I needed to link the cell next to it to some data entered on another sheet on the same workbook. Doing this causes the spacing between the text on the left and the text on right.. I tried formatting the cells, (left indent), center, justify etc.... but the spacing is still there. I even tried to enter the formula i needed in the same cell as the text prior, by just merging them, but that didn't work either. Please help. Thank you.

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
yes...sorry about that. Here is an example:

the dog chased the cat (this is a merged cell on the left) The cat hid under the tree (this is the cell on the right that is merged)

What I wanted to do with the top example is eliminate a large space between the first sentence (dog chased the cat) and the second sentenance (the cat hid under the tree) below is how it looks when printed

The dog chased the cat. The cat hid under the tree.
There is a big space. I couldn't merge them together, because there is reference link on the right merged cell.
