Speeding Up my spreadsheet

I have one massive spreadsheet I am working with that has a lot of data and calculations.

Is there anyway to speed it up? It takes forever to input data due to the numerous calculations, takes forever to open, save, anything that normally is quick.

Any ideas? or am I cursed with this because of how large my spreadsheet is.

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Turn your automatic calculation off before saving your spreadsheet. Be sure to use you Excel Options to tell Excel not to calculate your spreadsheet upon saving. When you open it, it won't calculate. Turn your automatic calculation on after you've made changes.

There are some functions that will cause your spreadsheet to slow considerably. COUNTIF is infamous for it as the spreadsheet gremlin must run back and forth...back and forth...from top to a new bottom to count for conditions you indicate. If you can, formulate work-arounds for COUNTIFS.

VLOOKUP is powerful and entirely essential...but can be slow...as can SUMPRODUCT. Test your sheet to see if you're inundated with these two drunk cousins.

Finally...if there is data you can hardwire instead of leaving as a formula...hardwire it so that you have fewer formulas.

Good luck.
