Excel is driving me nuts this morning. I'm trying to make a stacked data chart. I can add 2 items, when I add the 3rd, excel puts them on top the first two instead of creating a 3rd column. I went to ADD, then added a new column with 2 cells for data. I tried stacked, and 100% stacked, I can't get them to work. 100% stacked only show a line at the bottom, nnot the correct total. Any suggestions? Thanks

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
I do believe the point of a stacked data chart is to stack the items on top of each other. Try a nonstacked version.

Also, do all data series have the same values on the category axis?

What I have is 12 items, each with 2 values that will change. I would like to show each as a single column with 2 values. So I would have 12 columns, each showing 2 colors and 2 values but as a total. Can I do this? Thanks

You have the category and value axes mixed up, I guess. Instead of getting twelve bars with two colors each, you'll end up getting two bars with twelve colors each.

You need to specify your data ranges so that Excel sees them as two data series: one for all the first values and another for the second values.
