I want to be able to calculate the UK Stamp Duty on land purchases using an Excel formula. Shown below is the current rates.

Purchase price/lease premium or transfer value
SDLT rate
Up to £125,000
Zero
Over £125,000 to £250,000
1%
Over £250,000 to £500,000
3%
Over £500,000 to £1 million
4%
Over £1 million to £2 million
5%
Over £2 million7%

<thead style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "> </thead><tbody style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; ">
</tbody>
As you can see there are various rates, which are applicable to the whole value. i.e.
If the land is worth £270,000 the stamp duty would be 3% which would need to be shown. This would then be calculated. C1 "3%" and D1 "£90,000"

I am sure this can be done but is beyond my basic knowledge.

Any help would be appreciated.

:)

Hello isdoo,

You could try changing the (A1*0.03) part at the end so the 0.03 part is dependant on an IF, e.g.

(A1*IF(A1>40000,0.03,0))

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
Unless you are a moderator :))) you can only edit posts in the first 10 minutes.....and even then you only get that option after a number of posts (not sure how many off the top of my head)

See here

If you absolutely need a post editing you can ask a moderator to do it for you, but for minor corrections etc. best just to post again to clarify
