Hi

I am a new member of this site. I am doing a worksheet concerning time schedule or daily time records. I find this site very useful in doing my worksheet.
Anyway can you help me on how to do this, If the standard time in schedule in cell A1 is 8:00 am and in A2 you put an earlier time 7:45 am as the real time an employee timed in. However I want that earlier time 7:45 in A2 be like 8:00 am like the standard time schedule in A1. I hope I make sense in bringing up this question.

Hi,

Welcome to MrExcel.

I guess you haven't received a reply because it is unclear as to what you require.

Can you post an example of what you want? Do you require the time in A2 to be formatted the same as A1? like this sample...

Excel Workbook
A
18:00 AM
27:45
307:45
47:45 AM
Sheet3

Or do you want the value in A1 to change based on the value in A2?

Excel Workbook
A
17:45 AM
27:45 AM
Sheet3

I am sorry I got confused in posting my question. What I mean really is in A2 I got 8:00 am as the SCHEDULED TIME IN for some employee and in B2 as their REAL TIME IN. If someone accidentally input in B2 7:45 am which is an earlier time is there a formula that it will automatically result to 8:00 am as what the SCHEDULED TIME IN say. I hope this more clear to you.

A B C
1 Schedule time in Real time in Late
2 8:00 am 7:45 am 23:45

Hi,

The only thing I can think of that will work for you is Data Validation in B2.
In 2007 go to Data, Data Validation, Data Validation, Click the drop down for Allow, select Time, Click the drop down for Data and select Equal to, in the Time box put =A2. Click the Error Alert tab and type something like this in the Error Message box... You must enter the time that is in A2. Click Ok.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for giving me that help. It may some how help remind the encoder to always check the scheduled time in if an earlier time is input in the real time cell.

Anyway please mail me back if you find something more about my question.

Thanks
