got a challenge for you
basically creating a standby rota in excel, now there are 7 techs on call per week doing a 1 in 7 pattern.
but obviously if they was on monday one week they would be on monday the following week. (we dont want that)
so i need formula or method that makes the techs not be on the same day every week.
the way we work it is that one tech every week will do two days on standby in that week, this allows the other techs to be on different day each week.
Each tech takes it in turns to do two standbys a week. so over say 2-3 months each tech will have had there turn doing two standbys a week
i have actually created this list for the next two years, by just highlighting the list and dragging it down.
but i wondered if there is a more "posh'er" way of doing this.
what i would love idealy, is to write a list of techs weather there are 7 techs to 10 techs etc. and have a button or drop down box where you can pick 1 in 7. 1 in 10, and it will create the list itself. (along shot i know)
also didnt know if i could assign a unique number to each tech and do some sort of math formula to get a similar result.
any help or examples would be great. its easy to do 1 in 9 etc, but 1 in 7 is alot harder trying not to get them on same days
