Start / End Of Year

I am using the eomonth function on a worksheet so that users can press a button to view data for current month, last month etc.

Is there a similar function to find the beginning and end of the current year.??????

=DATE(G1,1,1) for the beginning date... and

=DATE(G1,13,0) for the end date.

G1 houses a number like 2002 to indicate the year of interest.
