I have an Excel Workbook which computes the Total Quantity of Shares “Bought” of a particular Stock from the beginning of time to the current time; and also, it computes the Total Quantity of Shares “Sold” of the same Stock from the beginning of time to the current time. It then determines the remaining balance of Shares “Held”, if any at all. It then goes on to compute the Average Price (including Commission) for all Shares “Bought” of that particular stock from the beginning of time to the current time. In reality, the worksheet does this for all stocks purchased and sold. This is good information; but I have no way of knowing what my Average Price of Shares “Held”. …And I usually do have some held back.<o></o>

What I want is to be able to compute the Average Price (including Commission) of Shares “Held”<o></o>

So, what I have is a “Trade Sheet” which I use to enter all the information about “buying” and “selling” shares of stocks. I have another “Holding Sheet” which examines the Trade Sheet and determine:<o></o>

1. Total Quantity of Shares “Bought”.<o></o>
2. Total costs of all shares “Bought”<o></o>
3. Total Quantity of Shares “Sold”<o></o>
4. Total Proceeds from all shares “Sold”<o></o>
5. Total Shares Currently “Held”<o></o>
6. Average Price (including Commission) Total Quantity of Shares “Bought”<o></o>

Does anyone know of a technique or formula, or even have a recommendation of how to capture the shares “held” and associate them with their purchase price and their respective commissions so I can compute the Average Price of Shares Held? <o></o>
