stop calculation of formulas

I have a excel sheet which has a set of formula.the problem I am facing is that when I import the database in the excel sheet field the excel sheet start calculation which slow the process.Is there any way to put a formula of macro in the file to stop calculation at time of importing the database and calculation start after the database been imported.

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
Can you not simply switch calculation to Manual? Tools>Options>Calculation tab and check the Manual Calculation checkbox. You'll have to hit F9 or Shift+F9 to get the workbook/worksheet to recalc the formulas following importation.
