Storing Multi Text Data in One Cell

I've got a fairly small set of data (numbers only) that pulls the data from 3 other worksheets behind using various SumIf/ Sum Product formulas. The data in the worksheets behind is all static.
Essentially I've created a summary template that shows me financial data of several business units in a specific format.
I've got a drop down box that allows me to select a business unit and change the data on display to that specific business unit (because the SumIf formulas are linked to the drop down selection).

What I would like to be able to do is manually enter text into a set of cells (commentary on the data shown) and be able to save that in the view that is on display with the drop down selection. So that if I select a different business unit on the drop down list, the commentary cells will re-set and allow me to enter new text in the same set of cells. And if I return to the first drop down selection, it will return the text I have previously entered.

I would be storing multiple layers of text into the same cell. But it would only be visible (and editable) wh en the specific drop down is selected. Screen shot below which hopefully helps to visualise this better. Highlighted in yellow drop down box and the section that I want to be able to enter multiple text layers. The columns are all numbers.

I've experimented with scenarios but I want the text that I am entering to be dynamic so that I can go back and edit it easily. I don't want a static screen-shot of one saved version of the data.

Is this possible in Excel and what functionality would I be using?
