sub form bottom is cut off

Acess 2010, windows 7, 64 bit.

I have created a form with subform. The combox box in the subform partially shows the expected data. This is a form handling a many to many with a join table.

The problem is that when in form view, the bottom of the form is clearly cut off. It shows one record even when there are two records to be shown. The subform has no bottom border. The main form has default view of Single Form and I believe the subform has its default view set to continuous.

What is causing the bottom of the form to be cut off or obscured by something that is not displayed on the screen.

Side issue, there are so many places to click on the form and get a property sheet display. But I just cannot find the one that shows the default view for the sub form. If I call up a property sheet then click "Form" in the very top drop down box, then tab Format has Default View. The top two items are Caption and Default View.

When I go to that same top dropdown and select sbfrm_issues_people, the name assigned to the form, the border of the subform changes to the orange outline indicating it is selected, but the format tab does not display Form View.

Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand

Exactly what part of the subform is being cut off?

Do you actually want to display multiple records?

As for the subform properties, when you select subfrm_issues_people you are selecting the subform control/container not the form within it.

I know it's tricky to select the actual subform 'form' while in the design view of the parent form but you can do it.

Don't know of a fool proof way of doing but you could try this.

Select the subform control and try clicking in the top left of the form within it, just how you would with a 'normal' form.

That works for me - but I normally edit subforms on their own design view, not when in the design view of the parent form.

You actually had to do that in earlier versions of Access.

Yes, I want to display multiple records in the subform. The main and sub together provide the ability to view and edit a many to many relationship. I want a single record in the main form and up to four related records in the subform.

Exactly what part of the subform is being cut off?

In design view there is a header and a detail section. The footer has been moved to the bottom effectively deleting it. In the Detail section there are a couple of boxes (combo and text) in one row just below the Detail bar. There is sufficient room for three or four rows.

In form view the header is shown and the first row of the detail section is shown. The vertical bars delineating the left and right side are present but just end right below the first row. It looks kind of like I cut a strip from a blank piece of paper and taped it onto my display hiding everything below the first row in the detail section. The bottom of the form is just not present.

All Stop.
I read your reply and answered what I could, then started investigating your remaining comments. That is when I noticed that the sub form had a slider that moved down some, but would not move back up. Then, looking to the right I saw that the main form had a slider. It moved the entire form and I saw that the main form was too long for the screen.
I find it puzzling that the form did not go to the bottom of the available space within the access window. As I noted earlier, it just ended in midair (so to speak) with no hint of the bottom or the fact that it was cut off.

Still, the slider was there on the right. I simply failed to take note of all the available clues.

BTW comment, I was trying to edit this into my previous reply and after typing everything in and hitting submit, the forum came up with a note about not being able to edit after ten minutes. It allowed me to keep on typing, then discarded everything thing I had written with no hope of recovery. That ticked me off a bit.

Regardless, reading your reply and looking into the items you mentioned led me to my problem.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Yeah, that did it. Boy, they make it a pain to find many things. Why would MS make it such that the user must click on something in the form, then click that corner button. But just clicking the corner button will not show default view.
Thank you.

Well that sounds like the subform control needs resizing because it's running off the bottom of the main form.

I don't know how you've designed your forms but it's kind of unusual to have scroll bars on a single form and the most common reason is because of a control that's
'out of bounds' if you like.

If the form is the size you want it you could try clicking Size to Fit Form which sizes the window you are viewing it in accordingly.
What do you mean it doens't show default view?

The property Default View of the subform?

It should be there on the Format tab.

If you want to see how the subform looks in default view then I think you'd have to open it on it's own.
