I have a large access table that contains the following:

I'm trying to create a report that will show me the last value entered at the end of the month. For example If I run the report on 8/12 the report should look like this:

I think I need a subquery to do this but I don't know how to apply the correct syntax.
I think it should be select [value] from table1 where max([date entered]) <#7/1/2011 for the 6/30/2011 field.

can anyone help?

(SELECT ACCT, MAX([DT ENTERED]) FROM [COLOR="RoyalBlue"]THE_TABLE[/COLOR]) AS SubT
ON MainT.ACCT = SubT.ACCT

Where THE_TABLE is your table name ...
This solution assumes there is never two entries on the same date:
550-3367-1 | 3/14/2011 | $5,000,000.00
550-3367-1 | 3/14/2011 | $5,000,000.00
(since in this case there is no single max date, and the tie would need to be broken)
