Subtotal Issue

Hi,

I am making up the details of this but the principles are the same;

I have a list of cities from cell a1:a100 and a list of figures from b1:b100.

I have added a subtotal for every change in city name, subtotalling the figures in b1:b100 for MIN, MAX and AVERAGE.

Further down the data, i have an average of the whole column, a MIN and MAX, a STDEV for all data b1:b100 and some other analysis.

The problem is, is that when the subtotals are added, the sums for the totals further down include the figures in each subtotalled city figure.

I understand this is what it should do! but i have a few members of staff doing this on various computers, and for 1 person, it doesnt take into consideration the subtotals, unless the cell is clicked into then enter is hit.

Why would some include the subtotals and some not?

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
...it doesnt take into consideration the subtotals, unless the cell is clicked into then enter is hit....
.. that just sounds like they have Calculation mode set to Manual. Check that first.
