Hello,

I'm trying to use this formula =SUM(INDEX(B2:I7,0,MATCH(B9,B1:I1,0))) to sum by column names. For example, if B9="Hours" then sum all data in the column found in B2:I7 that matches B9 or "Hours" The results are sometimes zero and other times it is not the correct sum. If I have it just have the formula look at the single column where I know the data is located and not a table range it works. Is it possible that because my table range containz text, dates and time that its not computing correctly. If so, is there a work around?

Thanks

There is no reason for it to fail unless there is a problem with the data. There is no way of knowing what that problem might be without seeing an example of the data where the formula is giving you the wrong result.
