Hello, how should i go about summing up a dynamic column range? For instance, in row 1, I want to sum values from A1:J1 and in row 2 I want to sum values from C2:J2 and in row 3 I want to sum the values from H3:J3 and so on. Please let me know if you need me to post a sample sheet.
Thank you,

Excel Facts

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
what are the rules for the columns

A
missing column B - so 1 column
C
Missing column D & E - so 2 columns
H
assume Missing columns H, I , J columns , so now 3 columns
and so on
- BUT then you are only going to J , so that wont work

as they all go to J

not sure on the sequence

can you provide some examples

Therefore -

A SMALL sample spreadsheet, around 10-20 rows, would help a lot here, with all sensitive data removed, and expected results mocked up and manually entered, with a few notes of explanation.

This will possibly enable a quicker and more accurate solution for you.

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data and will allow us to copy/paste your sample data into our Excel spreadsheets, saving a lot of time.

You can also test to see if it works ok, in the "Test Here" forum.

OR if you cannot get XL2BB to work, or have restrictions on your PC

then put the sample spreadsheet onto a share

I only tend to goto OneDrive, Dropbox or google docs , as I'm never certain of other random share sites and possible virus.
Please make sure you have a representative data sample and also that the data has been desensitised, remember this site is open to anyone with internet access to see - so any sensitive / personal data should be removed

Make sure you set any share or google to share to everyone

Sorry I am using my work computer and I can not download unauthorized files. Below is a pic of what I am trying to do. In this example I manually summed a range of the columns for the rows that i needed. For instance, in row 2 I needed to sum all of the cells from B2 to M2 based on the criteria shown in N2. The same goes for row 3, which is adding cells K3 to M3 based on the value in N3 but I need a dynamic formula to do this. I think I need a way to sum values for a range of cells based on the index number of the column shown in column N but I don't know how to write it. Any suggestions?
