I have made a hash of a formula =IF(AND(OR(Sheet3!G2="n/a",Sheet3!G2>Sheet3!D2),Sheet3!O2<>"Active"),SUM(Sheet3!B2))

basically what Iam trying to do is
if the date in G is greater than the date in D or the cell value in G is N/A
AND the cell value in O is NOT "active" then sum the amount in B

I have not attempted to do one like this before so need some help

Probably some kind of sumproduct will do this, but it's difficult to be certain.
Can you give us a slightly larger table, including unique values in Col B (i.e. not all, or mostly, 200), with more options, so we can work out what the logic is please ?

from what I am asking I would expect the result to be £422 which is the sum of B2,B6 and B7

Does that mean the #N/A error or just the TEXT entry N/A?

Ok, try this array formula**:

=SUM(IF((G2:G8>D2:D8)+(G2:G8="N/A"),IF(O2:O8<>"active",B2:B8)))

** array formulas need to be entered using the key combination of CTRL,SHIFT,ENTER (not just ENTER). Hold down both the CTRL key and the SHIFT key then hit ENTER.

Maybe something like this ?

Although this does not specifically mention G equalling N/A, when I test it, it effectively treats N/A as being greater than the value in Col D, so appears to treat it correctly.

Gerald I haven't triesd yours but as soon as you had mentioned sumproduct I did a little research and came up with this

=SUMPRODUCT(--(D2:D8>C2:C8)+(D2:D8="N/A"),--(E2:E8<>"Active"),B2:B8)

so thanks for that as well
