Just can't work this out! Got a string and want to get total number of occurances of a particular character within that string.

Excel Facts

Last used cell?
Press Ctrl+End to move to what Excel thinks is the last used cell.
If A1 contains the string to be searched, and the string you're searching for is "x":
=LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"x",""))
