I need to come up with a way to add up the total of each of the different numbers in the column...i.e., how many 5117's are there, how many 21119's there are, etc. for every different number in the column. Can you help (see below)?

5117
21119
A3457
A3456
B111
5117
C8675
C8675
C8675
C8675
21119
PPP
PPP
109CC
109CC
109CC

Thanks

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Welcome to the forum.

Look to sort the data in Alpha order then select the Data Tab or Menu if using 2003 and then look at subtotals you can tell it to count or sum.

Also another method is use a Pivot Table from the Data Menu or Insert Tab if using 2007. You can change the sum to count.
