Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
If your "Name" column is column A on both sheets and your "Value" column is column B on both sheets, then:
In Cell B2 on the sheet you want the vlookup
=SUMIF('SHEET1_NAME'!A:A,A1,'SHEET1_NAME'!B:B)

Copy down as much as you need.

Try **,

=SUMIF(Sheet1!A1:A10,A2,Sheet1!B1:B10)

Sheet1 A1:A10 > Name
Sheet1 B1:B10 > Value

Change accordingly

It is possible to do this with VLOOKUP, though it requires extra coercion, and it most certainly will be a lot less efficient than SUMIF for that purpose.

SUMIF was desgined to do just what you require. There is no better, nor faster function available.
