I have used the following formula in spreadsheet A to retrieve data from spreadsheet B, which works fine, however I open spreadsheet A and the info is not updated until spreadsheet B is open, this is a pain because I am pulling data from a 12 other spreadsheets

=SUMIF('M:\ICAD Employee Timesheets\Karen Walsh\[KW 2007.xls]May 07'!$A$13:$A$64,A6,'M:\ICAD Employee Timesheets\Karen Walsh\[KW 2007.xls]May 07'!$BP$13:$BP$64)

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.

Try using Sumproduct,

=SUMPRODUCT(--('M:\ICAD Employee Timesheets\Karen Walsh\[KW 2007.xls]May 07'!$A$13:$A$64=A6),'M:\ICAD Employee Timesheets\Karen Walsh\[KW 2007.xls]May 07'!$BP$13:$BP$64)
