hello everyone,

I have a problem. Can you tell me what is the problem with the formula. it give me an error.

=SUMIF(MONTH(B2:M2),"=1",B3:M3)

where B2:M2 is a datas range
and B3:M3 is the values ranges

Thanks

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
Welcome to the board...

Try

=SUMPRODUCT(--(MONTH(B2:M2)=1),B3:M3)

However, you may find that this (obviously) doesn't care what year the date is...
So if your dates may contain multiple years, you may get inaccurate results..

If you need to account for the year as well, try

=SUMPRODUCT(--(TEXT(B2:M2,"mmmyyyy")="Jan2011"),B3:M3)
