I have created probably a relatively basic spreadsheet tracking my sons swim times by stroke. I want a column to display the lowest time based off the stroke entered. I believe it is a minif statement but I don't know how to write it? I have the stroke name in column C (I.e 50 Meter Breast, 50 Meter Fly, etc) and the time in column G.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
What version of Excel are you using?
I suggest that you update your Account details (or click your user name at the top right of the forum) so helpers always know what Excel version(s) & platform(s) you are using as the best solution often varies by version. (Don’t forget to scroll down & ‘Save’)

Also can you post some sample data along with expected results.
MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data that will allow us to copy/paste it to our Excel spreadsheets, so we can work with the same copy of data that you are. Instructions on using this tool can be found here: XL2BB Add-in

Note that there is also a "Test Here” forum on this board. This is a place where you can test using this tool (or any other posting techniques that you want to test) before trying to use those tools in your actual posts.

I updated my profile to include the version I am using. I use this at work but at home I am on 365. For now we will use 2016. So below is an example. So based off the event entered in the event column I want it to find the best time for that event and display it in the column "Best Time". Does that help? So the formula would be located in the Best Time Column

EventTimeBest Time
50 Meter Back0:42.45
50 Meter Free0:32.85
50 Meter Back0:45.230:42.45

Col C is for 365 & col D for 2016

Yeah, the MINIFS function really simplifies things! It was a great edition, but you just missed out on it! It became available in Excel 2019.
