i have a bit of a situation here...

I have a list of Products on one tab and detail on another...

Products Tab
Prod Color
08MI 0801 (formated as text)

Detail tab
Prod Color
08MI 0801 (formated as General)

Now the traditonal ways of changing format have not worked.... When I format the text as a number, it loses the 0 and reads as 801, so it will not be able to match the color number on the detail tab. When I format the General as a text, it still will not read.

I am using a sumproduct formula to meet criteria and add

is there a formula that can read text and search in numbers and match? then add?

thanks,
JOE

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
Try doing Text to columns in situ on both columns, and specify the field as text.
then add?
What is there to add if the fields are text?

Tried that... didnt work

Just takes the zero away from the text formated number and when I format the number as a text using text to columns, it makes not difference on how the formula is reading.

thanks...

You have to follow the steps through and select Text as the field format.
