text position marker position is odd sometimes

This problem drives me nuts and I don't know how to resolve it. i reinstalled excel with no success.
I am working with big CSV sheets and edit text in it.
Sometimes the position marker is off. It's not between letters anymore but overlays them and I can never be sure if it's before or after the letter:

When I input some text i get a very strange picture:

As soon as I highlight the text, the letters seem to shift in the right place:

It is really exhausting having to highlight every text to see if the changed or added text is in the right place.
Is there a known fix for that problem?
