time diference between 2 cells

time difference problem
im trying to calculate the time difference between 2 cells and in the 3rd cell, display the answer in decimal format,
e.g A1 0800 B1 0930 i would like C1 to display 1.5 not 130

If you enter the times in hh:mm format then try like this

Excel Workbook
	A	B	C
1	08:00	09:30	1.5
Sheet2

thanks for the quick reply but it keps returnong 00:00
even in a1 and b1 cells, seems to be adding the date to the front of my data

Format A1 and B1 as Time, C1 as Number.

tryed the formating and whenever i type in A1 orB1 it changes to
18/07/1902 00:00:00

You have to enter the times in a format that Excel interprets as time:

08:00 not 800

09:30 not 930

that worked thanks, sorry but is there any way of just entering 0800 and having excel change it to 08:00 i have to add a lot of times on my time sheet,

thanks for your time will try the code out later, got to try and work out how to open a small spread sheet inside the main sheet now, if it is possible and add data which will then transfer to the main sheet for calculations etc. dont know if you can help with this as i feel i have troubled you enough already.
