I am trying to set up a start time and end time worksheet to calculate total hours between evolutions. When I put my start date in A2 and my end time in B2 the difference I get is 7 hours. The time I am using is start 0900am (8/2/02) and end 1600 (8/3/02). This should be a difference of 31 hours in reality. Cannot get it to work in excel. Please help

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
This is dirty, but it works. Format Cells A1 thru E1 for numbers. In cell A1, enter 1 for day 1. In B1 enter the time as a decimal number, ie 9:00=9, 9:30=9.5. In Cell C1 enter the stop day as day 1, 2, 3 etc. In Cell D1 enter the time again as a decimal number. In Cell E1 enter the formula =((C2-A2)*24)+(D2-B2) The answer will be in the number of hours worked
