Dropdown List has the Text "Todays Date".Now if i select the "Todays Date" from the dropdown list can it show the date for today.At the moment if i selecct it puts in the text "Todays Date" but i want it to actually put in "DD,MM,YYYY

If you are getting the drop down data from other source range then just use the below formula in that cell, so it will get reflected in validation list.

After you do the above, should the date that was entered in the cell become "frozen" (that is, read the same no matter what day the spreadsheet is view afterwards) or should it update with each new day?

Hi Rick

Yes once the date is entered it remains as is (frozen)....when i select "Todays Date" from dropdown list that date will remain in the cell and not update

I don't think there's any way to do this without using VBA. Do you specifically need a dropdown? Hitting CTRL+; will put today's date in the cell as a static value. (CTRL+SHIFT+; gives you the time, btw.)
