Another seemingly easy question.

I have a sheet that has three columns.

Column A: Date
Column B: Names (say Name X, NAme Y, NAme Z, multiple entries for each name)
Column C: Totals.

I would like to create coulmns that create totals and averages for each NAME. Does that make sense? Say there are 500 rows. How do create sums based on the Name?

The question I want to put in my spread sheet would be: What's the total for every row in which the Name X appears? What's the total for every row in which Name Y appears?

And then:

What's the average based on how many times Name X, Y or Z appears?

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
