Hi

i have download a skype call report in CSV , which has a column called duration. This column is formatted in minutes : seconds e.g.

Duration
10:44
03:57
00:00
02:38
01:11
00:50
02:34
03:36
02:50
03:26
01:00

I need to total this column up, so I can see total duration in minutes and seconds

However when I do a sumation , it doesn't total in minutes and seconds

I have tried changing the format of the cells to mm:ss however this converts the cell e.g. the value 10:44 is converted to 44:00

I think excel is autoformating this column as hh:mm instead of mm:ss causing the issue.

any ideas?

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
If Excel thinks they are hh:mm then you could just divide them all by 60 and format as mm:ss. You could use the divide function in paste special to do this. If you need an explanation let me know.
