Hello all , to start with i know after reading hundreds of posts that predictions are impossible . Im hoping to get approx trend or forecast functions based on these true stats from New Zealand horse racing based on 14667 races over last 5.3 years .
Im not sure how i could use these too my advantage .
Favorite #1 wins 4140
#2 2638
#3 1901
#4 1556
#5 1215
#6 987 , so out of 14667 races , 84.79% are won by the 1st to 6th favorite .
I have 160497 rows and climbing so was hoping to get some functions to get mean , mode , use Bindomist or god only knows , im lost . Happy to answer any questions to give more details , many thanks .

Hi Sunline.

Making predictions is easy ! It's making them accurate that can be difficult... :-)

Seriously though, I think you need to try and be clear in your own mind about how, exactly, you want to do this analysis.

Excel can almost certainly help you with it, and people on this board probably can too, but you yourself need to have some idea of what you want to do.

For example, Excel has a MEAN and MODE function.
If you're struggling with making them work, people on this board can probably help you get them to work.

But you need to provide a bit more clarity about what help you want, if you're going to get any significant help.

Good luck !

Thanks Gerald and shg4421 , im grasping as to what i should be looking for .
As with some past posts ive read is it possible too sort of semi , approx , guess , stab in the dark , spew out a number based on past historical data of wins listed in col V , known as 1 or 1= , aka come 1st .

i definately dont want to waste anyones time on here so Mean and Mode could be a good start .
