Tricky one.....

Hi everyone,

I hope I'm able to explain what I'm trying to do...

I have 2 lists of sites with how they ranked on 2 consecutive months at a task.

I have both lists side by side.

I would like to link the site name from the first list, to the corresponding site name in the second list with an arrow, to see where each one has moved to in terms of ranking from month to month.

there are a large number of sites so I don't want to have to do this manually.

Is this possible? I cannot seem to find it through the forum or google

Thanks very much in advance for anyone who can help!!

Excel Facts

Last used cell?
Press Ctrl+End to move to what Excel thinks is the last used cell.
I think I understand what you mean, but I can't think of an easy way to do it.

How many is "... a large number ..." ?
If it's a very large number, I would guess the arrows are going to be difficult to interpret.

One possible solution would be to use a line chart, with a separate data series, and therefore separate line, for each site.
This would update itself if any of the rankings change, and you could easily adapt it to show rankings over 3 or more time slots.

Thanks Gerald,

Knew it was a tricky one!

I have a format I need to keep it in so that wouldn't be a feasible way for me. I had a vision of what it should look like, maybe it just isn't possible!

Thanks very much for taking a look though

Kind regards

Bear in mind that if you go for the chart solution, you could still make it look quite alot like a data table.

For example, you could either delete or make invisible alot of the chart elements - such as X and Y axis lines and so on.
You could also make the chart background have no colour, so that it was transparent, and then you could position it over your worksheet data table, so that any elements in that table appeared through the chart.
