i have 12 cells one for each month. each cell will have a different value. the 13th cell is a total value of all the other cells. all sounds easy up to now. next year the same 12 monthly cells will change as the year goes by. my question is how do i keep cell 13 to keep this years values and next years values.

Welcome to the board yelworf,

If I understand your post the requirement is to have one cell to contain two values. I imagine that is doable in a roundabout kind of way but the most practical solution would be to add another set of cells for each new year. Is there is a reason that couldn't be done. Let me know. Could you also provide more specifics of the cells 1-12 are they formula etc.

Love the "no joy" not used enough.

Thank you for a quick response.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
To have one cell to contain two values. This is not quite what i mean. The brain can easily cope with this but translating it into dumb computer language causes problems. It is obvious you need to know more about my question before you can help me. Below is just a snippet of the sheet. The sheet contains approx. 700 different addresses all spanning twelve months. The history part is from last year’s results. Put in manually. Next year i will have to update the history part manually. A combination of last years and this year’s results. <o:p></o:p>
Is there a macro or something that could update the history and clear all this year’s input? I would then have a new blank sheet with all history up to date. Hope this makes sense.<o:p></o:p>

It completely doable to update the history and clear this year's results. Could you post a sample of the sheet layout with the MrExcel HTML Maker add-in. That way I can get an idea where every thing is located on your sheet. Once that is posted could you explicitly state what you would like to have happen, referencing row and column.

Thanks
