I have a text xyz-XYZ. where xyz can be any text. How can get the text string on the left before - and also how can get the text string on the right after -.

End results should look like this

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
find("-",a1)

will return position of the - within the string. use this with left() and mid() functions to get the substrings

Left component: =LEFT(A1,FIND("-",A1)-1)

Right component: =MID(A1,FIND("-",A1)+1,255)
