I'll try and be as clear as possible hope someone can help, here goes

In cell A1 I have the data A/B
In cell B1 I have a number 1,2 etc..
In cell C1 I want this to add up all th A's
In cell D1 I want this to add up all the B's

Trouble I'm having is because A & B are separated by a forward slash in 1 cell the result just returns #NA when I try to use the match or vlookup function

Thanks in advance

Larry

Excel Facts

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
A B C D
A/B 5 5 5
A 3 3 0
B 2 0 2

Sorry if I wasn't that clear but I hope this example above helps

I want cells C & D to return a result of cell B
