Trying to view VBA project in 2007

I know this topic has been discussed over and over but I've looked at all of the other solutions with no help.

I have enabled macros and I have enabled access to VBA Projects, I see the developer toolbar but nearly everything is disabled. I have ensured that VBA is installed for MS Office 2007 by going through the Add/Remove programs --> Change --> Run from my computer.... that didn't work either (it was already installed)

I have MS Office 2003 Professional with Microsoft Office 2007 Pro but only Excel installed. Macros work fine on 2003 but I want to update them to work on 2007 as well.

Any time I open a workbook with VBA code in it I get the dreaded 'This workbook has lost its VBA project.....' Everywhere I looked people said enabling macros worked to fix it but mine already has macros enabled.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Excel Facts

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
Have you tried running Diagnostics from the Resources section in Excel Options in 2007? Can you record a macro using the record button in the bottom left of the status bar?

Diagnostics said I had no issues.

When I click the macro button it doesn't appear to do anything. A tooltip comes up saying no macros are being recorded even after I click the button.

Well it sounds very much as though VBA is not actually installed for 2007 then. Have you tried uninstalling 2007 then reinstalling?

I am about to try that. First I am running through MS Updates to make sure everything is there. I don't think it's going to help but I have to try everything. After the updates, if they don't help I will uninstall, reinstall and post results. Hopefully they will be good results.

Use the DVD/CD and look at repairing to see if it helps rather than uninstall and reinstall.

Got it working. I don't know what it was but I did the updates, nothing... did the repair, nothing... did the uninstall, removed all working folders from C:\, reinstalled, working.

Thanks for the help, I have no idea what was wrong but it's working now, hopefully to stay.

Now that I think of it, I did change the affiliation of .xls files to use 2003 but I'm not sure that would cause an issue, especially since Macros wouldn't work even when I opened a new workbook in 2007. I guess it's a possibility but maybe I just stick with 2007, I've been reluctant to use it due to the increased learning curve from 2003.

Thanks all.

There are some very major differences in the way you deal with 2007, but Microsoft created some flash movies to help find your way around, what they do is show you an old screen layout and when you click a menu and item in it they then pop the 2007 screen and direct you to find it in its new position.

I have copies on my website which you can download.

www.wuit.co.uk\downloads.htm

look down the list until you see - Microsoft Office documents -
