Two different levels of protection in one sheet

Please help:

I have managed to fully protect all the calculation and output cells in my worksheet, and I would also like to protect all the input cells, but only to the extent that people can change their values, but not all the other aspects of those cells (validation, formatting, etc.).

In particular, I would like to prevent people moving/dragging around the unprotected input cells on top of each other (as people who aren't familiar with Excel tend to ), which screws up all the calculations. :(

Any ideas how to do this, please? :)

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Please, could somebody help me with this - how do I stop people dragging and moving around unprotected cells, but still allow them to change the values?

I'm still struggling with this. Is there some way to disable cell-cut (.cut) capability within a worksheet or workbook?
