I am trying to set up a pivot table and i keep getting an error indicating the Name of the Table is not correct. THe only thing that seems to coincide with this error is if i try to select an areas of the original data that contains blank cells.

Can you create a Pivot table with some data cells blank?

Thanks

John

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Blank cells should normally not be an issue...
Total blank rows might be an issue, not sure.

But you have to make sure that each column in your sourcerange has a unique header identification at the top. These cannot be empty!

OK, I have three columns that have a general heading accross those three columns (Cells Merged) then there is a unique sub heading for those three cols in the row below the row that are merged ..... is this probably the issue?

is that row with merged cells in the sourcedata range of the pivottable? If yes, I guess that might be the issue...
