Unable to format as date

Hi,

I am facing a weird problem in Excel 2007. I have some cells formatted as dates, but when I enter dates in them, it displays them as numbers, however in the formula bar you can see dates. Dont know what to do.

Please help me out here.

Dates are actual numbers see example, have you selected the cell which shows the number and then looked at the format of the cell to make sure it isn't a general number format. K1 in my example is todays date, L1 has a calculation to select cell L1 and then I have changed the format.

Yeah.. I just confirmed that they are not in General format. They are in date format and I have selected the type 14-Mar-01 in the Format cells dialog box -> Number tab.

Also, when I press F2, I can see dates. But on pressing enter, They are again displayed as numbers.

Have you accidently change the spreadsheet to display as text, on keyboard use Ctrl + ¬ (3 character key below the escape key) this toggles the spreadsheet to display all entries as text and then places back to normal.

Thanks a lot!!! That worked... I pressed Ctrl + ~ and it appeared as dates. Thanks again!!
