I recently purchased 3.5 million contact records of people in the uk. The data was supplied in zip and unzipped amounts to in excess of 600MB.

I have tried opening in work buy Word comes back with the error message saying file size opening is limited to 35MB

I would love to open just part of the data - maybe that wopuld help. I can open the first 65,000 records but that is about it.

All help greatly appreciated:biggrin:

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Open it using a web browser or notepad and see how you get on

You can also dig around the Web and find macros that will import files with more than 65K records into multiple worksheets...I found a couple of them out there. I would post them, but I have modified them heavily and would probably be more confusing than helpful.

Just a thought.
