Unprotecting shared workbooks

Sorry I actually posted this for a friend and didn't have much time to type out the question. He has a shared workbook and he had previously protected it and now the unprotect option doesn't even come up. I suspect he is being seen as a "user" rather than the admin, but I don't have much experience in shared workbooks. Can anyone help?
