I have posted this on another Excel help forum, but not advice so far.

I have an excel file ("Master") that is linked to files A & B; File A is linked to files C & D, and files C is linked to files E & F.

What do I need to do to automatically update the Master file when I open it with the data from files A & B, that will automatically be updated from files C & D, that will in turn be automatically updated from files E & F, without opening files A, B, C, D E & F? The goal is to open only the Master, and have it updated by all unopen files that are linked directly and indirectly.

Is there a way to do this without VBA? If not, anyone have code that would do this?

Thanks in advance.

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
In future please supply a link to your cross-post, rather then just mentioning you've done it.

Cross-posting (posting the same question in more than one forum) is not against our rules, but the method of doing so is covered by #13 of the Forum Rules.

I still havent received a viable response to this query. Anyone have VBA code that will do the trick? I wouldn't even mind if the code openmed files A, B, C, D E, and F.
