I'm trying to make a calculated field in a pivot table, but I want to use a count, rather than a sum, in the calculated field.. how do i do this?

for example, if i have Q1 Sales and Q2 Sales, and I wanted to add them together.. it would give me the total sum of both fields.

but what i would want is to have "Count of Q1 Sales" + "Count of Q2 Sales"

is this possible?

thanks

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
I think you can use a formula called GetPivotData, depending on which version of Excel you are using depends how to find it, if using Excel 2007 or higher it should be in one of the tabs once you are working in the Pivot Table.

yeah, thanks..

I was hoping to perform the calculations inside the pivot table so that it would be dynamic as I shifted around the groups and subtotals etc..

oh well
